Horse related Christmas Gifts!

Hi guys, so I had Christmas at my grandmas house, my dads house, and my moms house. Here is a video showing what I got for Christmas, I still have 3 more Christmas's to go, but those arn't until this weekend and next week, so here is some of the gifts I got that are horse related! It is nice to get horse related items that I enjoy for Christmas because as some of you may know horse related items can be a little expensive.

I just watched this its a really neat video on endangered horses called Przewalski horses, they are a very old breed so its really cool to learn about them and how they live, its kind of funny because our horse Pearl is named after "The Black Pearl" too!

Hey guys heres how to make your horse a Christmas or Birthday cake!

Horse Slaughter

I will start out by saying this, I know this may make people mad, if you don't like it don't look at it, you chose to come to this site, if you don't like it and want to let us know why please do it in a kind manner, no cursing swearing, name calling, you have your own opinions and so does everybody else, I am posting this and everybody can debate it.

So laws are getting passed here in my state to where horse slaughter plants are going to be re-opened. I really don't see any problem here and I think it should be spread throughout the country.

Now before you get all worked up think, think like you had never met an animal in your life, you didnt own a horse, or a cow, or a dog or cat or any animal for that matter, you knew they were meat like all other animals. There is no difference between the animal, the taste of the meat is different, but its not your dog Fido, or your horse Buck, or your cat Fluffy. They are all animals! They are all food! I know my dads proud of my common sense to see the side of it you aint a true cowgirl or cowboy if you grew up on a farm you love the animals to death but at the same time you know that horses and other animals are food.

Now I come to the point of actual slaughter. We have established that all animals including horses are food. I am "pro-slaughter" if it is done the right way. I approve of stun guns which is the most humane method of slaughtering, they render a horse brain dead. They can't feel or think, they don't feel pain or think "oh my gosh where am I" they don't think anything. People may say well that's the worse feeling in the world if they do feel that way then kill them no horse deserves to be like that! My response would be, "Then why in the world do we make people who are brain dead stay alive?"  If horses are slaughtered correctly they wont feel anything.

Another reason I am pro-slaughter is because we have to many horses here in the U.S..  One of the reasons we have so many horses is because there is no horse slaughter in the United States. How many horses die of starvation each day because there are to many for everybody to take care of? I would rather a horse be stunned and die instantly then slowly starve to death unwanted in some field which choice sounds better to you?

Another thought on the horses are animals. It would take a lot, but when it comes down to it, people are at the top of the food chain. If my family and I were for some reason starving, I would kill and eat my own horse. Self preservation comes first, mind over emotion. It would be very hard and I would be very sad, but the pain of losing my horse would be much less than that of losing my brother, or sister or parents. Horses are just like a cow, if you were starving and you had a nice fat cow just eating up your grass you would probably kill it to feed yourself or your family wouldn't you? I know I would and it would be no different with a horse, just a little more sorrow for killing a horse because I like horses. It may be the other way around for a person who loves cows.

Trailering Don'ts

Here are some things you need to keep in mind when transporting horses

• don't haul your horse on the bed of a truck

1. Your horse may spook and jump off the truck, if they survive that, they may get hit
2. Your horse will have rocks and diffrent things, bugs, dust, birds, or even people throwing things at your horses, and other things they can not be protected from in the back of a truck
3. If you stop or suddenly your horse can come flying off the trailer

Don't leave your horses windows down unattended  
as you can see in the video down below your horse may spook and get stuck, sometimes its not preventable, if you really wanted to benifit the horse you would take your horse out and walk it these people are lucky, if their trailer had had a sharper edge, the horse could have easily been sliced many times strugling to get through, it could have stuggled while they were gone and fallen out and gotten hurt even worse, just don't leave your horse unattended in a trailer with all the windows down. Make sure your safety bars are up at all times if must have your windows open.

Don't put your bars/windows down while driving on the road
Horses can stick their heads out the window while driving, good way to get your horses head hit by other vehicles or flying debris.

Don't drive without letting your horse out and walking at least every 4 hours. You get sore and stiff from sitting in a truck for more than a few hours, you horse will too, and they arn't used to riding in a trailer every day, plan your trip acordingly.

Don't have your mini ride in the car, however cute it may be this is dangerous not only for your horse but you too, if you got in an accident having a panicked minature horse in your car is not going to help anything, your horse may spook, and could easily come up into the front of your car, and obviously distract you causing an accident.

Always use a safe trailer with working lights and a secure hitch and use two trailer chains when hauling. Give yourself extra space and time for speeding up and slowing down. Always use caution!

 So sorry for not posting, but here are some informational videos. The first is a video on one of the methods my family and I use to get burrs out of your horses mane. This can be a big problem if they are out in the pasture. The second video is a video about posting on the correct diagnoals. This is mainly an english thing, but it can be used in western riding too. Finally the last video is just a short video of me riding at the canter from a horseback point of view.
